At St Joseph's School, we learn Chinese online via Zoom...!
Our Chinese teachers are living in Beijing and teach students virtually through the support of their classroom teacher in Australia.
Students have a 15-25 minute lesson weekly in which they learn vocabulary and are introduced to cultural aspects of Chinese people. The cultural aspect is explored further with the classroom teacher once the online component has been completed.
We have an annual China Immersion Day where we immerse ourselves in various activities throughout the day to further explore Chinese culture and food.
Our school also participates in the Engage with Asia Project run through the Catholic Education SA Office. This project involves online connections once or twice a term with a sister school in China. Students plan and prepare for the connections and share learning and information with each other. Currently our R/1 class & 6/7 class connect with other schools in China.
