Taylor Meyer

Principal

I feel truly humbled and privelidged to lead the St Jospeh's School Community from Term 2, 2024. I am committed to leading a learning environment that nurtures and challenges every child to be the best that they can be so that they can be thriving citizens of our community and world beyond our school gates.

I have a deep and strong connection to St Mary MacKillop and all that she aspired to in her passion and committment to educating children and starting Catholic Education in South Australia. I continue to learn from Mary and her wisdom guides me in my leadership of St Joseph's and my involvement in Catholic Education.

I am grateful to work alongside such passionate and committed staff, to educate every child that walks through the school gates each day, and to work in partnership with parents and families as they bring their children up in this ever changing world.

I feel very privileged to be a part of the supportive and welcoming Saint Joseph's School Community. I enjoy providing young people with opportunities to thrive as a whole person. I am passionate about collaborating with students to be people who care for God's creation and implementing ways we can nurture and implement these practises in our school. I have found a love of data and using this information to help students develop their own learning goals, as well as supporting teachers to utilise this. I strive to support the growth of students in all areas of their lives. I feel very blessed to be surrounded by young people every day who are excited by learning and their futures.

2/3 Teacher

I am blessed to be in my third year of teaching at St Joseph’s. I embrace the opportunities before me as a Primary School Educator in a very special, authentic, and inclusive learning community. Through communication, active listening, mutual respect and as much laughter as possible, I strive to build trusting relationships with our students to enhance their sense of confidence, belonging and individuality.

My goal is to educate the whole person, in an environment that honours the sacred dignity of each child and their endless potential. We celebrate kindness, diversity and empathy in our classroom, where children are encouraged to wonder and explore. Together with children’s families, I am privileged to share in the development of skills, knowledge and capabilities that will be with each child long after their school days.

Librarian & Administration

I am fortunate to have been associated with the St Joseph’s school community for 15 years as the Librarian/ Administration support officer and as a parent of three graduated children. I have over 30 years of experience within varied library services.

It is with enthusiasm that I promote the importance of reading for pleasure and research and am devoted to nurturing the benefits of reading within literacy across all year levels.

Within my role as Librarian I advocate for programmes such as the Premiers Reading Challenge, which our school can boast with pride over 95% participating since its inception in 2004. I love my involvement with this programme seeing the pride as students complete the challenge from year to year, engaging in their learning through the pleasure of reading.

One of my other personal interests is singing and I am privileged to lead the school choir. It is a pleasure to be part of the students sharing their talents at concerts, aged care facilities, community groups and community functions.

I look forward to being an integral part of a dynamic school community as we move onto new initiatives and areas of learning.

Saint Joseph's School Peterborough holds a special place in my heart. I grew up in this community, having the great privilege to attend St Joseph's for my primary years of schooling, and now having the honour to return to pursue my career in education. I thoroughly enjoy being part of such an enthusiastic, positive and welcoming school community. I value learning from my colleagues, and from experiences with children within the school.

The best part about my role is assisting and seeing individual student growth and forming crucial and fostering relationships with each individual. I strongly believe in not just nurturing who the child will become tomorrow but nurturing the child for who they are today.
